Choir concert warms up the winter season with fun holiday songs
By Enya Kuo
Irvington’s choir presented their annual winter concert on December 13 in the Valhalla Theater. During the two-hour long concert, the five choirs (Chamber Chorale, Treble Ensemble, Concert Choir, Viking Jazz, and Fresco Femme) sang various religious hymns and holiday songs, including “Jingle Bell Rock” and “Baby It’s Cold Outside”.
The highlight of the evening was “The Twelve Days of Christmas”, the finale piece the combined choirs sang together—along with the audience. In between the show, Choir Club president Michelle Wen and vice president Robert Ritchie held a raffle with the proceeds benefiting our choir.
“We had a better turn out [this year]. My favorite part was singing ‘Sparkle Jolly Twinkle Jingley,’ this one crazy song with Chamber,” said sophomore Chamber member Lauren Murvihill. “It took me a while to memorize the words, but it was really fun performing it. I think the audience liked it too.”
The choirs’ next concert will be in 2013. “Keep an eye out for the spring concert,” said junior David Kang. “We’ll share the magical creations of Walt Disney through the art of music!”
