The crisp, cool air can only mean one thing: fall is back! Get inspired by some of our favorite activities and fall in love with autumn.

(Pumpkin) spicing up your life.

Everyone’s favorite fall flavor is back in season after a year-long hiatus, and it has come back strong. Find new ways to introduce it into your life. The Alameda County Water District even recently announced that for a limited time, it is starting a new initiative to add pumpkin spice to the water supply, which means that you can now bathe in spicy goodness. This is good news for anyone who just can’t get enough. Remember, pumpkin spice isn’t just a flavor. It’s a lifestyle.

Wearing cozy clothes.

When fall comes around, it’s time to break out all of your comfiest fall knits. In addition to comfort, warm clothes also protect you from the cold and bitter winds that come with the turning of the seasons. This year, make sure that you’re prepared for the autumn chill by wearing at least one article of knit clothing at all times. It doesn’t matter if the weather forecast says that it will be 91 degrees outside–you need to be prepared for the harsh conditions of the California fall.

Taking a walk and enjoying nature.

During fall, one of the most beautiful sights is the changing leaves. Just look at Irvington’s own fields of grass, which are slowly but surely turning into a unique shade of brown. Go outside and appreciate the colors of nature by taking a hike on Mission Peak.  You can survey the lush, brown fields of dried grass while sipping your pumpkin spice water. You won’t get a better view than this.

Trick or treating.

The best part of anyone’s October is Halloween, and the best part of Halloween is trick or treating. However, trick or treating can become a very tiring task, so pay someone else to do it for you! This year, the popular food-delivery service Treat4Me will be fulfilling trick or treat orders. Simply highlight the neighborhood that you would like them to trick or treat in on Google maps, then fill out the order form online. Within one hour, a bucket full of candy will be delivered to your house. You can enjoy all the sweetness without having to break a sweat.

Enjoying a bonfire with your closest friends.

Huddling by a toasty bonfire with your friends and telling stories is one of the best ways to celebrate the upcoming season. Just make sure that you keep track of everyone, since it would be unfortunate if you accidentally impaled one of your friends with a spear. In addition, to make sure that everyone has a chance to speak, don’t forget to pass around a conch shell so that you all can

Taking the SAT.

When October rolls around, that means only one thing: SAT season is starting again. Don’t be alarmed by the length of the test! Think of the SAT as a fun personality test, kind of like the ones that tell you which Disney Princess you are, except this one will tell you whether you’ll be successful in life or not. Register online at collegeboard.org, and be sure to sign up early! Seats fill quickly, but the plus side is that if you register late, you can take a fun fall road trip to Berkeley with your parents.
