Tips on how to make the most out of a work out

Getting buff isn’t all about pumping iron. Sure work outs are important, but what really matters is the nutrition you get after you exercise. The food you eat after a workout is extremely important. It’s common sense to not eat fatty foods after an intense training session. So what should you eat? Two things: PROTEIN and carbohydrates.

It’s essential that you eat within a window of time after your workout. If possible, within thirty minutes of your work out would be the most beneficial for your body to absorb nutrients. However, you also need to limit the amount of protein and carbs you should be eating.

For your daily dose of protein, whey protein shakes are the preferred choice of many athletes. This is because the shakes will digest much faster than solid foods such as burgers. If you’ve got the time to eat, eggs and tuna are excellent sources of protein. While it may not look like it, a regular can of tuna can contain up to about 30g protein. Now that you’ve had a dose of protein, next is finding a source of carbs.

While a lot of people view carbs as detrimental to a work out, a lack of carbs would cause your muscle tissue to break down which is not a good thing. Dextrose is a type of sugar that is quickly digested by your body and also turns out to be a good source of carbs. Many athletes eat dextrose as a quick way of getting carbs.

So there you have it, a quick way to get your body in the best of shape. Proper nutrition after an intense work out is very important if you want to make the most out of it. Eating proteins and carbohydrates are the fundamentals to keep your body in the best of shape.
