Money Money Money

It’s a rich man’s world

Check your calendar. Your best friend’s birthday is next week, and you are absolutely swarmed with homework this weekend to go shopping. What is the best solution? You pull out a Jackson and put it in a red envelope (just for good luck). Now you’re all set to go.

Or not.

Personally, I think the idea of giving someone cash for his/her birthday is rather iffy. From the receiver’s point of view, money is oh-so-useful. However, from a giver’s point of view, it lacks consideration. Giving gifts to each other is all about the heart and the effort you put in the present, not throwing something together at the last minute. Don’t get me wrong. I love money because it’s the language of all priced items, but I think we ought to be a little more considerate when it comes to buying presents.  Something homemade will be equally nice. If you’re really stuck, print out embarrassing photos of your friend and make a collage. Now that will be a priceless and timeless gift to give.
