    Wrestling Wins

    Taking it to the Mats

    This past weekend the boys wrestling team competed at the Marin Catholic Tournament, ranking extremely high. Junior Keith Thomas placed first, accompanied by junior Andrew Le who placed first in another weight class. Junior Hugo Vera came in fourth while senior Henry Llamas placed seventh.

    Girls wrestling team competed North Coast Sectionals were held on February 1st and 2nd. Senior Jamie Ascanio finished her season placing seventh. There is a bright future for Irvington wrestling as junior girls Mariah Damaso came in fourth, Brenae Crockett sixth and Alicia Ruiz seventh. Sophomore Sharrukina (Sharky) Tamrazi finished a promising sixth. Freshmen Natasha Mahaed made her first NCS debut and placed eight. Overall, the team was ninth out of 45 teams. “ Our numbers are up, our competitive numbers are up,” said Coach Damaso, who is extremely pleased with the team. “I see more medals in the next few years.”
