“I think I was nominated because people know that I give my all in everything. One of the positive experiences I had was all the top 10 being so nice and supporting. I thought I would be scared of them because I assumed they would be extremely competitive, but this wasn’t the case at all. People I didn’t really know before ended up being really nice so I now think of this as a fun little activity.
Being a part of class council for three years, I’ve been bench leader and now senior class officer. I’ve also been a part of ASG for two years and Indopak for three years as a dancer, captain, and officer. Being a part of these activities has impacted me really well and I’ve grown to love them. After these four years at Irvington High School, I can say that I would not do anything differently. I’m happy I stepped out of my comfort zone and ran for senior class officer because I would have never done that originally. I think it’s impacted me in a good way because I used to be horrible at public speaking and I still am, but I’m learning. Just because I’m outgoing doesn’t mean that I’m good at public speaking.
I’m looking forward to planning more fun senior events that make people really happy. Seeing people happy and engaging with these events makes me feel really glad since this is their last year. Especially on senior citizen day where I had a great grandma impression and everyone else looked really good with their senior citizen costumes. We ate that up.
An impactful lesson I’ve learned at Irvington is to be kind to everyone. My advice to underclassmen would be to say hi to everyone, even if you don’t know them. You should also stay positive and not be mean to people. Even if there is a reason you try to solve it in a kind way. And don’t bully people. That’s just mean, and you shouldn’t be mean for no reason.
