In January of 2463, a revolutionary scientific experiment was launched. Scientists were challenged by the PR teams of both Duolingo and Dua Lipa to merge the two into one entity: half bird, half human. The experiment was a big success with a single being emerging, Duolipa.
Online users were extremely conflicted and didn’t know what to think. “This is a great scientific advancement and all but the real question is what are Duolipa’s pronouns??” questioned EspanolLover0o0 in Duolingo’s old TikTok comment section. On the other hand, LangGang said on Twitter: “This is peak furry behavior why would Dua Lipa agree to this.”
Despite confusion about the merge, Duolipa went on to release a new album on Valentine’s Day of the same year titled “Translations.” The album featured many songs such as “Flying on Water” and “Green with Fury,” but most prominent was the title track “Love Language.”
Critics and audiences alike were in awe of the overall package of the song—the music video, cinematography, choreography, vocals, but most especially, the songwriting. Lyrics of the first verse and chorus are as follows:
oooOoOooo (x4)
[1st Verse]
You just wanna break my heart one day
Figure it out another day
Language is a beauty
Your communication is so booty
Translate this translate that
You don’t get a pat on the back
[Chorus]
So what’s your love language?
(what’s your love language)
Not even tryna figure it out (figure it out, yeah)
What’s my love language?
Don’t even wanna show it, baby
Now you’re just blowing it, crazy
The song is aimed at Dua Lipa and Duolingo’s shared past experiences with exes who never bothered to communicate their feelings and seemingly don’t care about the relationship. Most notably, critics pointed out the oooOoOooo’s at the start of the song were very symbolic, as they represented Duolingo’s eyes and beak.
The music video was also quite the spectacle, the budget rumored to be around $3.3 billion. It featured a big green throne decorated by elaborate feathers spreading out from behind like a fan and also a massive chandelier in which Duolipa swung around on like a swing. The dance moves Duolipa performed and executed were also moves that no one thought was humanly possible, but then again Duolipa is in fact not a human.
Even enemies were leaving positive reviews, Google Translate commenting: “At first the merge was questionable. The only thing the two had in common were their names, but with this new release I’ve been proved wrong. Each and every one of Duolipa’s songs were just so captivating and really drew me in. Their stage presence is out of this world, and even though they don’t look like most pop stars out there, they make up for it by being extremely unique and having super awesome sauce songs.”
Duolipa had just recently announced their world tour coming up during the summer, Translations: The Tour. Tickets are speculated to be as expensive as $2,000,000,000,000,000 for a nosebleed seat, so it is expected that the concerts will be jam packed with extremely rich and powerful figures.
With all this success, Duolipa will no doubt soon become one of the top musical artists of our generation, or possibly even this millennium.
