Sabrina Carpenter, 24 year old actress and singer, has quickly risen to popularity over the past 2 years. Raised in Pennsylvania, she was homeschooled for the entirety of her early education. At the age of 10, Carpenter started posting videos of herself singing on Youtube, eventually translating into signing her deal with Disney.
Her first acting role was a guest role in Law and Order: Special Victims Unit, and she went on to gain a recognizable amount of attention as Maya Hart in a Disney Channel series Girl Meets World. After stabilizing her acting career, Carpenter moved on to begin her career as a singer-songwriter. In March of 2014, she released her debut single, “Can’t Blame a Girl for Trying,” co-written with Meghan Trainor. Due to an immense amount of support, she released an EP of the same name in April of 2014.
Carpenter’s debut studio album, “Eyes Wide Open”, released in April of 2015, and reached number 43 on Billboard 200. Selling over 12,000 copies in the first week, the album received a plethora of positive reviews and won two Radio Disney Music Awards. In 2016, she released “Evolution”, debuting on the Billboard 200 at number 28.
That same year, Carpenter went on her first headlining concert tour, the Evolution Tour, in the fall of 2016. Later the next year, she opened for Ariana Grande on her Dangerous Woman Tour in Sao Paulo.
In November of 2018, Carpenter released her third studio album, “Singular: Act I”, which contained of two singles, “Sue Me” and “Almost Love” which reached #1 on the US Dance Club Songs chart, leading her to embark on her third headlining concert tour, the Singular Tour. In 2021, she announced her signing with Universal Music Group’s Island Records and consequently released “Emails I Can’t Send” in 2022.
Since then, Sabrina Carpenter’s experienced an immense amount of success. In September of 2022, she began her Emails I Can’t Send Tour, which ended in August of 2023 and this year, she’s also opening for Taylor Swift on her Latin American, Australian, and Singaporean Shows. In November, she released “Fruitcake”, a Christmas-themed EP.
Carpenter’s surmountable success is due to her relatability, the depth of her lyrics, and her likable pop persona. Her future as a singer is one to definitely watch, and there’s no doubt she’ll only evolve in the future.
