This morning, Lucky woke up craving honey oat cereal, and since we didn’t have any at home, I decided to make some for him and the kids.
I started off by milking the cows on my farm. They weren’t feeling too good today so I wasn’t able to get a lot of milk but it was enough for what I needed today. After fetching the milk, I went to check on my honeycombs. The honeycombs were looking very hexagonal and shapely today so I tried to extract as much honey as I could before letting the bees out. Although many say it’s a safety hazard, I like to let the bees roam around and explore. From there I journeyed to my oat grains, picked out quite a few grains, processed them in my industrial grade silos and mills, and then they were ready for the next steps.
I combined and mixed the oats and honey together in a large bowl, flattened them in a baking pan, and let it harden before chopping them into pieces. I placed them into the milk then it was done. Then I realized that we ran out of spoons, so I melted some ore, poured it into a spoon mold, and once they were cooled popped them out of the mold and started eating.
For lunch, my kids Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Whimsy Lou really wanted something cool and refreshing so I decided to make them some chopped romaine caesar salad topped with gold foil. I grabbed some romaine lettuce from my garden in the backyard, washed them and chopped them up. I combined my homemade Worcestershire sauce, homemade dijon mustard, self grated parmesan cheese, and garlic from my backyard to mix into the dressing.
I needed toppings as well, so I went ahead and baked a loaf of bread. When it was ready I chopped it into small pieces and baked it some more to make croutons. I also had to make the gold foil, so I grabbed some gold from our backyard mine and melted it. After pouring it into the mold and shaping it into thin squares, I hammered them until they were nice and thin and added a bit of kosher salt to marinate for a bit to taste.
I then assembled the salads, lathered the lettuce in my dressing, then topped it off with the croutons, self grated parmesan cheese, and gold foil. The kids really enjoyed it, and by that time it was time for dinner.
I decided to make some ramen for dinner. Lucky helped me make the noodles first, mixing together flour and water. I started off by preparing the broth, taking my own chicken stock and throwing some roasted veggies in. After grabbing a pig from our farm, I started preparing the chashu meat, rolling it up and throwing it into the broth to marinate as well. While Lucky prepared to cook the noodles, I took the ingredients out of the broth and began to grill the chashu pork. After assembling the broth, noodles, and chashu, it was ready to be eaten.
Rumble Honey, Slim Easy, and Whimsy Lou really enjoyed the meals and I’m glad I am able to do this for them every day.
