I teach functional reading, functional math, health and safety, vocational skills, and job skills. I am passionate about working with special-abled students as I get a lot of satisfaction seeing them becoming successful like all their peers around them.
I engage my students through lots of interactive activities. We run a coffee cart business where my students go to different classrooms every Wednesday to take orders from the staff. On Thursdays, they deliver the orders. By participating in this activity, they learn a lot of skills such as social skills, money skills, and job skills. They even prepare all the coffee, tea, and other items on the menu from scratch.
When collaborating with other para educators, we work on addressing the different performances and cognitive abilities of each student. I usually do group instruction in my class and then break them up into smaller groups to be able to work with students individually.
