“I’ve been to probably more than 10 to 15 countries in the continents of North America, Europe and Asia. I haven’t been to Africa, Australia, and South America but I’ve been to Central America.
I would say that The Bahamas is my favorite place I’ve traveled to. I went with my family and family friends, and we had a lot of fun together. The hotel was all-inclusive, so we didn’t have to pay for anything and we could eat a lot of food. Also, the Bahamas has really blue water, which was really beautiful. Additionally, the landscape and the scenery are beautiful as well. The best thing about the Bahamas is that there are many tiny islands nearby and they each have something unique about them. So you can take a boat and go on a day trip to visit a bunch of islands, which is really pleasant since there’s not that many people, and the locals are really friendly too. The only bad part about the Bahamas is that it’s super expensive, because everything there has to be imported.
I’d say that Brussels, Belgium is my least favorite place I’ve been to, but the weather might’ve affected my perception of it. When we were there, it was a really rainy and cloudy day, and other than eating food and seeing landmarks, there’s not much else to do. The people didn’t seem very welcoming either.
Each place you visit has its own locals that you meet that have their own system of doing things. It’s so cool to see how everyone lives their day-to-day life. This past summer I went to Switzerland. We met this guy who owned a bar, and he was showing me pictures of his son and how during the winter it would snow. His backyard was on the base of a mountain, so his son would ski into his backyard after his run. It’s cool to see how people live differently from us, and it’s so much more relaxed in some places than the fast paced Bay Area life.
The best food I’ve eaten on a trip was during this past summer. We were traveling to Milan, and there was a big thunderstorm. I’d never seen a thunderstorm that crazy before, and it was raining very hard, and we finished our activities and got in at 11 PM to our rental car. We didn’t know where to eat, but we found a random Thai place, and my family and I love Thai food. So we just decided to go there, and the food was really warm and comforting, which felt really good after a long day of traveling with so much rain. So I don’t know if the food actually tasted that good, but it seemed like it did, which is what matters most.
I love traveling because you can create new memories that last forever with your family. You can always bring it up 15 years later and say: “Remember this one time…?” It doesn’t even have to be in a far place; you can still create memories on small trips as well.
I think I travel so much for a little bit of everything. Mainly I think it’s because my parents like traveling, which is the biggest factor, because they end up paying for everything. But also my family finds traveling fun because we can see new places, have new experiences, learn about new cultures and just take a break from everything.”
