“Modeling is all about the confidence that you express in it. Whether it’s photoshoots or catwalks, it’s a different type of art that you’re expressing. As long as you’re confident in yourself, anyone can be a model.”

I started modeling around sophomore year but in other forms of modeling, I started in my freshman year. I started modeling because I’m tall and a lot of my family members and my friends said “Oh my God, you should be a model.” I honestly didn’t really think about it that much at the time, but my mom put me in a class and every opportunity opened from there. I also look up to other current models.

My favorite part of modeling is when I combine my dance passion and modeling. In my dance studio, we have photo shoots for dancers. When I do my traditional dances where I wear Chinese traditional dresses as my costume, I’m able to take photos with that and do poses that reflect both my culture and also express an art form. 

I think that modeling has definitely boosted my confidence a lot more because you’re being surrounded by people who are always bringing you up. In general, I also think that it’s just really fun, so it brings me happiness. “
