My mom started collecting coins for me around fifteen years ago. She wanted me to collect them as a good memory to know where I’ve been and how many times we’ve been there. Every time we go somewhere, we collect at least ten or twenty different coins such as one euro, five euros, and all types of coins.Â
My favorite coin in my collection is probably rupees because it reminds me of home. That’s where my parents are from, and that’s where my grandparents are from. I have over 1000 different coins, and some different ones are rupees, pounds, euros, pesos, rubles from Russia, Swiss francs, and Japanese yen. We have different big notes and we keep them all in a wallet. Five euros, one euro, and ten euros are all different coins so we also keep track of all those as well.Â
When I look at my collection, I’m just amazed at how I managed to acquire all of it. Of course, it took a while. Halfway through, we also gave some to the bank to trade in and get some money. Still, it’s definitely an amazing moment to look at all of the coins because of the hard work and consistency that went into the collection. We don’t show anyone unless they’re super close friends.
I have a ton of memories from traveling and collecting coins and one that stood out to me is when I got coins from Japan. Some of them had holes in the middle and I had never seen coins like that before. We’ve been to a lot of places, but of course, there are still different types of coins out there that we need to collect. I’ve never been to Thailand or Brazil and I don’t have their currency.Â
