I wanted to be a senior class officer for multiple reasons, but I think primarily it’s because I’ve always been consistently involved with leadership and it’s something that I wanted to continue into my senior year. Being senior class officer is definitely a bigger responsibility than all of the other class officer positions I’ve held since they have to take care of all the senior year events such as graduation, senior sunrise, senior cruise, and prom. I want to evolve and diversify the events we currently have and make them ten times more special for our senior year.Â
I think one of my biggest goals is planning the senior year events. What I want the most is to have increased participation in these events, because everyone deserves to have the most special senior year before they graduate. It’s the last time we see each other before we part ways following graduation. I plan to have a lot more polls, feedback, and advertising on our campus for senior specific events, and also potentially having senior spotlight segments on the IHS instagram.Â
I’ve been involved with leadership for a really long time. I started being more involved in middle school when I was ASB president, and then after that, I served on a statewide leadership board called CASL. Then here at Irvington, I’ve had the honor of being class officer for the past three years, and every year I’ve learned so much. Not only about our class, but the events and how to make them better each year.
I think that the three class officer dynamic is very new, but that it will help a lot in our upcoming senior year because of how senior class officer positions are notoriously known to be the hardest class officer position at Irvington. There are so many responsibilities involved within this position that the officers need to take on along with college applications. Having three will allow us to be a lot more efficient, and help us increase the quality of our events.
Ultimately, I hope to leave an impact where the whole class is united and satisfied with their high school experiences, and feel comfortable participating and creating memories with one another.
