“I teach AP Government/Econ Honors and Government/Econ. I am also the advisor for the neurodivergent club on campus. I have always loved government policy. I was very political from an early age, when it wasn’t cool for others to be political. And although it seems weird, I really love school supplies. I get excited to buy them every single year. It just made sense to become a teacher after I completed my degree. After trying a few other jobs, I kind of fell into teaching, and it was a perfect fit for me.
I actually went to Kennedy High school. My cousin taught at Irvington and he told me that I could shadow someone at this school. Once I was done shadowing and doing teaching with Ms. Buehler, I really liked the history department here, so I decided to stay.
At Irvington, I love how we have a small, tight knit community. I love the history department, staff, admin, and students here.
A memorable moment at Irvington for me was when I performed at Faculty Follies, a show composed entirely of Irvington teachers at the Valhalla Theater. I was always aware of stage fright and I’m terrified of performing but once I was on stage, I felt proud of being able to overcome my fears. Something I enjoy doing in my free time is traveling. I love to go on a lot of trips and love to read new books.
For high schoolers, I would say to truly enjoy the experience. I know it sounds so cliche, but just enjoy it. Do what you need to do, and t keep going. I feel like a lot of students get so overwhelmed with the expectations. and Life is kind of crazy and anything can happen anytime you know so just enjoy your time while you’re out there.”
