On February 18, from 7-9 PM, Irvington Resonance hosted its annual Spring Showcase in the Valhalla Theater, featuring a diverse lineup of performances, from a saxophone ensemble to Bollywood dance.
The show began with an entertaining and engaging introduction from emcees Kelly Jia (12) and Lawrence Jia (12). The show opened with a rendition of ‘Timeless’ sung by Julia Fung (12) and accompanied by Brandon Chen (12), Jeremy Lin (12), and Lance Dizon (10). After, Jaden Du () and Sarah Zhu () performed a flute duet, followed up with energetic performances by Irvington’s Filipino Youth Association (FYA). Ensuing, Irvington’s dance class, juggling club, Vietnamese Student Association (VSA), and competitive dance team.
Among the most notable acts of the night were those close to Resonance’s goal as a music service club, including the flute choir, saxophone ensemble, piano solo by Vihaan Sharma (11), and a cover of ‘I See the Light’ by Riya Ragavan (11) and Annabelle Lin (11).
Preparation for the showcase began in early January. As part of organizing, Resonance handled “logistical forms, auditions, and then organization of the final lineup,” stated Resonance President Julia Fung (12). Furthermore, the club was in charge of “coordinating all details of the show with the final list of performers,” said Fung. Performers also began rehearsing for Resonance in “the later half of January,” said Annabelle Yeh (12), with instrument-focused acts refining their pieces through “the earlier part of January as well”, described Yeh.
