Irvington graduate gets more carries, plays bigger role in team’s big win
By Jason Amico

On Week 2 of the 2012 NFL season on September 16, the Seattle Seahawks routed the famed Dallas Cowboys with ease, with a final score of 27-7. The Seahawks played exemplary offense, using a “clock management” style and running the ball often. Marshawn Lynch, the team’s offensive focal point, ran for 122 yards on 26 carries, which led the game. Despite this dominant performance, fans in Fremont were focused on one man: Irvington alum Robert Turbin.
Turbin ran for a career-high 15 yards on 5 carries. He also made a significant 10-yard reception on a 3rd down and long play, along with being involved in several great play action fakes which led to big passing plays by the Seahawks’ rookie sensation, quarterback Russell Wilson. These statistics may not seem like much, but this was a significant game for Turbin. Spelling the team’s biggest star is no easy task, and he surely surpassed expectations and made the most of his opportunities, considering his minimal chances. Irvington Vikings all around are hoping their local star has a breakout performance soon.
