Class of 2014 adopts new “Prom Points” system
By Jenny Lu
For seniors, getting prom tickets for half off comes at a different price. The class of 2014 established a new prom points system as an incentive to rile up more of the senior class. According to Karen Li, senior class president, three seniors, excluding ASB and class council members, with the most prom points two weeks before prom will receive discounted tickets.
According to Li, anytime a participant attends a certain event, he or she will earn a specified number of points, provided that he or she has photographic evidence of attendance and submits all the relevant information through a Google form located on the class of 2014’s Facebook page. The points will be updated monthly.
“We just wanted to get more people involved with our class events,” said Li.
As of now, senior prom tickets are around $85 each, according to Li, who is hoping that through fundraisers and events, the prices can be lowered substantially.
In the near future, there are many opportunities for seniors to earn prom points. Participating in the skit is worth 3 points, going to dance practice and benchbuilding is worth 1 point, and attending the all nighter is worth 4 points.
