On Jan. 25, Irvington’s Class of 2015 held its most profitable fundraiser yet at the Golden State Warriors game, with a performance by senior acapella group Sexy Pitches.

“We sold a total of 88 tickets for the fundraiser,” senior class president Narvan Babaei said. “Every senior class council member that assisted us in selling tickets was a great help in raising funds for our class, especially Mansi and Shivani Soni, who together sold 21 of our tickets.”

“We have not been told the final amount earned from this fundraiser,” Babaei said. “It will be a minimum of $500, making it our biggest fundraiser out of any done these past four years by the Class of 2015.”

Sexy Pitches performed the national anthem before the basketball game in front of a sold-out crowd including many Irvington students.

Before their performance, the 16 singers were allowed to sit courtside to watch the Warriors players warm up.

“Curry was an arm’s length away as he tested our microphone. So when I die, I can die happy,” tenor Ricky Liu said.

Alto singer Jessica Ho compared the experience to one of Irvington’s spirit rallies. “It was definitely a great experience being so close to the players and walking on the same court as them,” she said. “The performance felt like a big school rally.”

Babaei said, “The fundraiser would help lower senior ball tickets. The fundraiser is so that the money for prom doesn’t all come out of your pocket and especially at one time,” she said. “The money we earn from any fundraisers goes into our account and helps to offset the price of prom tickets for the students because it decreases our debt, which needs to be balanced by high prom ticket prices if the debt is high.”
