The 2025 Formula 1 season is back after their summer shutdown, bringing together ten elite teams and twenty of the world’s best drivers to compete in the remaining seven races. Teams like Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, and McLaren continue to battle for dominance with their drivers pushing the limits of performance and precision.
This year’s grid features exciting new lineups and team changes. Ferrari signed Lewis Hamilton in February of 2024 and this will be his first year racing for the team alongside Charles Leclerc. Mercedes, having to cope with the loss of Hamilton, turned to rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli. This will be his first year on a Formula 1 team, with him being the youngest racer on the grid. Antonelli will be racing alongside George Russell. Red Bull continues with Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda, while McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri fight for the top of the leaderboard.
Currently, Piastri leads the World Drivers’ Championship with 336 points, closely followed by Norris with 314, setting up one of the tightest championship battles in recent years. Verstappen sits in third struggling to defend his dominance from previous seasons as Red Bull’s unbeatable champion.
The 2025 season began in March with the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne and will conclude in December under the bright lights of the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The most recent race took place on October 5th in Singapore, where George Russell claimed a stunning victory for Mercedes at the Marina Bay Street Circuit.
After a season of near-total domination, McLaren has already clinched the Constructors’ Championship, just as they did last year. Their consistent pace, reliable performance and sharp strategy have kept them far ahead in the field. Mercedes, though unable to catch McLaren, has made significant progress in recent races, with Russell’s win in Singapore and Antonelli’s improving pace showing promising signs for the team’s rebuild. Meanwhile, Red Bull’s fall from dominance has been one of the biggest storylines of the year. After years of success, Verstappen’s RB21 has faced persistent balance and tire degradation problems, while his teammate Tsunoda continues to find his footing.
Ferrari, on the other hand, has endured a disappointing season marked by a car that has been difficult to master due to its new design. The design features a low ride height aimed at improving aerodynamic efficiency, but this setup has led to excessive plank wear and frequent performance issues. Engineers have been forced to compromise on setup to stay within regulations, sacrificing both pace and consistency. Additional problems such as understeer in slow corners and instability at high speeds have made the car unpredictable, leaving both Hamilton and Leclerc frustrated. Despite progress under team principal Fred Vasseur, Ferrari’s season has been hampered by inconsistent upgrades, strategic indecision and communication breakdowns on the pit wall leaving them far from contending for wins.
As the championship heads into its final seven races, all eyes are on Piastri and Norris, whose internal rivalry could define the remainder of the season. With the Constructors’ title secured, McLaren now turns its focus toward helping one of its drivers gain the World Drivers’ Championship, an accomplishment the team hasn’t achieved since 2008 by Lewis Hamilton.
The 2025 season has delivered a mix of dominance, redemption and intense rivalries that have kept fans on edge. As McLaren celebrates a historic year, attention now turned to the remaining races and the future of Formula 1, where new talent and innovation continue to shape the sport’s next chapter.
