In the evening of February 5, 2026, Night Market commenced on campus during Open House. Featuring booths from dozens of clubs, ranging from IndoPak to IHS Chess, students were able to fundraise while promoting their clubs to incoming freshmen and parents. “Night Market is more than just a fundraiser; it’s a showcase of our campus’s personality,” noted Svanik Singh (12). “Seeing the community come together like this helps new families see exactly where their students will belong.”
Efforts made from individual clubs to set up and sell included registering to ensure a designated spot, filling purchase forms, and purchasing items to sell. Culinary Club representative, Nikhil Shukla (11), briefly mentioned the efforts made to sell their food of choice, popcorn chicken, specifically noting that the club’s reputation often precedes the product. “We had to organize who buys what, the logistics of bringing it all to the market, set up shifts, and even made a poster to advertise.” Shukla stated. “In the end, you see people supporting your club and contributing to your funds. They don’t always buy the food just because they’re hungry. You mainly see people who want to support their friends or explore different cultures through the food.”
On the back end, the Associated Student Government (ASG) Clubs Committee managed the coordination required for such a large event. Jolene Cheung (11), a committee executive, explained the process behind the oversight.
“We had to organize which clubs would be selling specific foods and assign them to booths,” Cheung stated. “We sent out forms to ensure every club had the proper purchase approval forms to sell food.” Beyond the logistics, Cheung emphasized both the fiscal and cultural impact of the event. “Our goal is to help clubs fundraise, but since it’s during Open House, it’s a great opportunity for incoming freshmen and parents to familiarize themselves with these clubs.”
Overall, the Night Market provided a radiant experience for parents, prospective students, and seniors alike. Ian Law (12), an attendee and Finance Club representative, reflected on the importance of these final high school events. “I attended because I wanted to experience different cultures through food and experience more school culture before I graduate,” Law said. “I think everyone should involve themselves more in school activities and stay present, because this school has a lot to offer.”
