Dia de los Muertos

IHS Spanish Club transforms the small gym into a mini Dia de los Muertos celebration.

If you don’t know all ready Dia de los Muertos stands for Day of the Dead, and is a Mexican celebration where they remember and honor those who have departed. On Friday, November 4th, IHS Spanish club did a Dia de los Muertos presentation, Spanish classes and even some French classes came to learn about the celebration and the differences it has with Halloween.

After the presentation was over, there were some other fun activities for students to take part in. The Mecha club decorated an altar, and there were several other altars decorated by Spanish club members for Amy Winehouse, Steve Jobs, and Walt Disney. After looking at the altars many students rushed to the salsa tasting contest, which consisted of four different salsas. Another big hit was the “pin the skull on the skeleton” game and the henna table.

The presentation was a hit, IHS Spanish club’s hard work definitely paid off.
