Fall Leadership Conference

Interact Club reveals international project, 2600 attend conference

By Iris Lee

On October 14th, 2012, over 2600 eager Interactors from all over Northern California filled Independence High School for the Fall Leadership Conference. The event took months to plan and involved keynote public speakers as well as the international project unveiling.

The earlier part of the day was divided into several leadership workshop “classes,” with Interact District Council members leading short discussions about community ideals, leadership, and communication skills. In addition, the participants were encouraged to meet new people and get pumped for the 2012-2013 Interact club year.

After a quick lunch, the event resumed with keynote speakers Silverman and the unveiling of the year’s National project “Life, Love, Literacy.” The project is focused on granting underprivileged children the gift of education. “We will be partnering with an extremely unique organization called Room to Read that believes in the same aspect of literacy as we do,” Irvington Interact president, David Kang, says. “The feeling after Fall Leadership Conference was amazing and indescribable…it definitely made up for sleep deprivation, exhaustion, and the 22 hours spent at Independence High School.”
