Career center received grant for new laptops

Over the summer, the Career Center received new laptops to aid students. Mrs. Kimmel, the college and career counselor, said that she needed more computers or laptops for students during her college and career planning classes and in general for student use. She stated that encountered problems when trying to secure the computer labs as they were not always available. “I wrote a grant proposal to the Silicon Valley Information and Communications Technology,” said Mrs. Kimmel, “and they accepted it, giving us the new laptops.” The 36 laptops came at no cost, with 20 brand new ones and the rest refurbished. The laptops take up less space in the career center, letting more students being able to use more laptops. According to Mrs. Kimmel, all the laptops are currently hooked up to the internet through network but they are also Wi-Fi enabled for future use if needed. She is pleased that she can now have full classes in the career center without having to worry about students not having access to a laptops.
