“I’m really grateful to be a class officer again. Applying alongside strong competition made me second-guess myself, but I’ve come really far, and I pushed through because my brother and friends encouraged me to make the most of my high school experience. The opportunity to be Bench head in my first year in Class Council also was also a life-changing experience, as it introduced me to leadership. Leading the Class of 2027 this year has been such a special and meaningful role, and I’m truly grateful for that.
Starting off as an officer was difficult because there was a lot to learn, but now Diya and I will definitely find the workload much easier next year, especially with the support of Shivani. They both deserve these positions, and I especially can’t wait to see what Shivani has to offer because I know she’s been working hard for this role.
An extracurricular I’m a part of is FYA, our Filipino club. I’m very proud of my culture, so I love being able to represent and share it with the whole school. As FYA president and junior class officer, I’ve learned how to juggle my responsibilities. Public speaking, delegation, and time management, along with my APs, has taught me how to overcome stress and ask for help.
Something I want to improve next year is outreach and giving others the same opportunities that I was given. Inspiring a bigger and more diverse Class Council would truly make our class feel more connected.
I’m excited about all the events in my senior year. I really hope we could win homecoming week because our class has been so close every year — maybe we’ll even sweep all the categories. Additionally, senior sunrise and sunset will be a bittersweet way to close all the memories we’ve made throughout high school.
I want others to see me as how I saw my big brother, like a mentor or an elder figure they can look up to. I hope to encourage others to take on as many opportunities as they can, make the most out of their experience, and to leave an impactful footprint at Irvington.”
