Malala Yousafzai Slowly Recovers

After months of operations, Malala Yousafzai is discharged

By Japjot Bal

Last October, the Taliban shot Malala Yousafzai in the head and neck in hopes of silencing this courageous 15-year-old teen, who has been an active voice in Pakistan for female education. The outrage and support that ensued following this brutal act of violence has made Malala an international symbol of courage. Although she has been released from the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, Malala still requires surgeries. Her father has been appointed to a diplomatic job at the UK consulate so that he and  Malala can remain in Britain while she recovers.

Malala has made such an impact that she was nominated for Time’s person of the year. Even with all of this support and recognition for Malala, the Taliban has vowed to attack her again. Regardless, Malala continues to fight and plans to take full advantage of her miraculous survival.
