“This is my first year teaching. And contrary to what most students think, my class isn’t simply an elective, it’s a way of life. I teach Health Education. My students always underestimate the importance of my class. I always have to take matters into my own hands through my own disciplinary action.
Simply earning a college degree like the common man isn’t nearly enough to be suited for teaching my class. I’ve had the potential for teaching health education since I was a mere lad. I always made sure to walk in between my friends and girls they liked to prevent them from holding hands. Additionally, I would always tell my peers to wash their hands for more than 30 seconds in the bathroom. In my time in high school, I didn’t see a single organism as capable of teaching health as me. So, I decided it was my time to shine and here I am today.
I told my students there would be bi-weekly pop quizzes throughout the year. One time I overheard some students saying, ‘Chat there’s no way these quizzes are hard, it’s literally health class. WE are not studying.’ Yet again, I had to take matters into my own hands. I made sure the class knew that I would check their other class grades that they put more effort into and lower their grade in my class accordingly. I make sure to tell all my students that my class is NOT a free period.
My students often complain that I post Google Classroom announcements too late. Yes I made an announcement at 11:58 involving a change to an assignment due at 11:59. But as a responsible student it is a necessity that you stay up making changes to perfect your work until the moment it is due. The Department of Health Education recommends a bedtime of 9:30 p.m. for high school students, but that doesn’t get in the way of my planning.
Most teachers nowadays are too relaxed. They say it’s for the good of the kids, but how is giving students a week to complete a project ‘good’? If anything, that makes them lazy. Having projects due the night they are assigned is much better.”
