BREAKING NEWS: Due to a mysterious portion of the school’s budget being uncovered, it was announced earlier today that starting in the 2026-27 school year, all Irvington rallies will no longer be located in the main gym. Instead, rallies will now be located in various high budget concert venues around the Bay Area.
Rallies are a core part of any high school’s school spirit, pride, and tradition. This was all the more reason that the Irvington administration decided to pour this sudden increase in funding into new facilities for Irvington rallies. The ASG Rally Committee posted on their Instagram story this morning to spread the word to the student body. They stated how elated they were about this opportunity and how grateful they were for the administrators for pouring this money into rallies instead of other pressing issues at school, such as leaky roofs and graffitied bathroom stalls.
So far, the student body’s opinion has been divided. Those who support the new venues have expressed strong opinions on their dissatisfaction towards Irvington’s gym. An anonymous interviewee states: “Especially when it’s rainy during the week, I can still smell the lingering sweat from PE students running the indoor BUUM and it really ruins the rally experience sometimes.” Another states, “It’s just getting so old now. There’s only so many things you can do in the gym and it really would be nice to not see the same 5 performers perform in the same place.”
However, those who oppose the new changes are protesting for other aspects of Irvington that could have used the funding instead. Some listed were the leaky roofs and bathroom stalls mentioned earlier, but many others also included new textbooks, PE equipment, an actual football field and track, clean swimming pool, and so much more. “The quality of life at Irvington right now is not it,” says Luke Warms (9), “I would really much rather have a clean pool to swim in during PE.”
Venues for the next rallies have already been booked and started planning for. The list of venues include Bill Graham Civic Auditorium, Fox Theater, Stanford Amphitheater, and more. These iconic Bay Area concert spaces are loved by many, and those in support of it were overjoyed to be able to visit and use the space free of cost.
Guest performers are also soon-to-be revealed to Irvington students. Many suspect that the lineup will include various Grammy winning artists, TikTok famous singers, and even retired iconic bands. The amount being allocated towards new rally expenses has been kept private from the general student body, but many have calculated and estimated it to be well above five to six figures.
Regardless, the new addition to Irvington culture is one that will be greatly welcomed and will no doubt bring out the school spirit in students that previous rallies have only partially been able to do.
