“I am dead,” Jim Carrey said during his speech at the 51st Cesar Film Awards, where he accepted an Honor Cesar Award. Since his retirement in April of 2022, Carrey has not engaged in industry events until his appearance in Paris on February 26, 2026. However, he returned with a new face: plump skin, prominent apples of the cheeks, and a swollen nose. Alongside his uncanny appearance, a new conspiracy theory emerged: Jim Carrey was replaced by Hollywood.
Fans speculated about his aggressive surgery — what was the purpose of receiving plastic surgery, especially after retiring from Hollywood? Potential procedures identified by professional plastic surgeons online included a blow lift, face lift, rhino plasty, upper blepharoplasty, and fillers. But without the scrutiny of the public eye, Carrey would no longer face pressure from audiences to adapt to new industry standards of celebrity beauty. Furthermore, the star of “The Truman Show” rose to fame due to his exaggerated features, so altering these features through cosmetic surgery would devastate his legacy as Hollywood’s most elastic comedian.
A popular rumor about Carrey’s new appearance theorizes about the use of a body double. On March 1, 2026, photos of Carrey along with a prosthetic mask and pair of false teeth were posted by Alexis Stone, a professional makeup artist known for impersonating celebrities, on Instagram. Comments on the Instagram post featured strong reactions, with many users criticizing Stone for spreading misinformation. Whether or not Stone truly impersonated Carrey on the Red Carpet is unknown, although Carrey’s representatives have denied these claims. Of course, considering Hollywood’s plethora of controversies, Carrey most definitely could have attended the award ceremony with a clone, which would explain the identical dimple featured on his lower cheek… not for any other reason. But perhaps the clone was imperfect, which would support theorists’ claims about Carrey’s eyes appearing green rather than brown, or how he signed autographs with his right hand rather than left. Or, maybe, Carrey was never cloned or impersonated to begin with (but that would be an utterly ridiculous idea).
Regardless, a significant question remains unanswered: why would Carrey be replaced to begin with? Considering Carrey’s mockery of the Illuminati during an appearance on the “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” talk show on November 14, 2014, where he stuck his tongue through a triangle formed by his hands, Carrey may be a whistleblower of the entertainment industry. Perhaps in the four years since he retired from the industry, Carrey was punished for his exposure of the dark side of Hollywood, either brainwashed by the Illuminati or maybe even cloned by the Church of Scientology. Of course, Hollywood will deny his behavior as comedy bits or performance art, but Carrey will remain a warning for all in the entertainment industry: to speak is to die.
